vce fashion final ‘23
DESIGN BRIEF
Outline and Context
The ‘What the Fuzz’ band is made up of 4 high school students aged 16-18 and is an emerging music group local to Ballarat, Victoria on Wadawurrung/Dja Dja Wurrung land. They began as a school based (Mt Clear College) VCE VET band and upon completing their Certificate III, Unit 3/4 studies at the end of 2022, have decided to continue as a band, playing at school events, country markets, local music venues as well as other paid gigs.
Some of their music inspirations include rock bands such as Mötley Crüe or Rage Against the Machine, as well as Australian indie rock bands such as Spacey Jane, Sticky Fingers and The Chats. Their fashion influences while performing draw from these bands, as well as 70’s inspired bright or patterned pieces, and pop musicians like Harry Styles or Olivia Roderigo.
They are seeking a sustainably produced and low cost uniform that mirrors their sound and also includes touches of each member’s personal style. They are just beginning their journey as a band and their style is not yet fully formed, although their musical performances are clean and reflective of their talents, they lack cohesion in their fashion choices as a band. They perform approximately once a month. The band is very upbeat, and their performances include lots of movement around the stage. This uniform will be used on a regular basis, inside, and around electrical equipment.
